Water Filtration

What's the difference between hard and soft water?

Plainly put, a high content of minerals dissolved in water (usually calcium and magnesium) causes hard water, which can result in wide-ranging and costly problems. Soft water contains low levels of these minerals and can be "softened" by sodium.

Homeowners often don't realize the long-term problems caused by poor water quality and we can assist in discovering what best suites your home's needs.  We install both residential and commercial water softeners and filtration systems.

1    |    Common Water Quality Issues

Hard Water Issues - White chalky buildup can occur on fixtures, faucets and in appliances, and can lead to reduced water pressure due to scale buildup in pipes and aerators. It can also cause spots on clean dishes, dry skin and dull hair. You may have frequent problems with your washing machine, dishwasher, coffee maker and water heater.

Odors & Discoloration in your water - Unpleasant tastes or strong smell in drinking or bath water could point to a number of issues, like metals in your water, or possibly even algae or mold. Cloudy or brown water could be due to sediment from pipe corrosion or issues from well or city supply.

Rust and/or Staining - Noticing brown or tan marks in sinks, toilets, tubs or discolorations in laundrered clothes, can all indicate high iron or other minerals in your water lines.

Recurring Plumbing or Appliance Issues - Frequent clogs, pipe or fixture corrosion may also indicate mineral build up from hard water in your lines and appliances like your washing machine.

Most importantly, all these lead to health concerns -

Especially for older homes with aging plumbing or connected to older city or well systems.

2    |    Water Filtration Solutions

We regularly help both residential and business customers with choosing and installing the appropriate water filtration system that best suits their needs and lifestyle. Solutions range from a variety of whole house filtration systems to point of use filters.

Addressing these issues results in cost savings:

  • less soap/detergent use

  • extended appliance life

  • fewer plumbing repairs and failures

  • safe, clean drinking water (no more bottled water)

3    |    Water Softeners

For those with hard water, installing a water softener can be just another mode of addressing water quality issues that could have long term and costly effects on your home appliances.

Typically, these units use a process called ion exchange to remove calcium and magnesium from water. Softners come in both salt-based and salt-free options and are low-maintenance appliances.
