BackflowPreventionServices

Installation

We install approved backflow prevention assemblies on commercial water services, irrigation systems, and anywhere a cross-connection hazard is present. We can test fire suppression systems, but cannot work on them at this time.

Repair & Recertification

If your device fails a test, we repair it on the spot when possible and retest before we leave — so you stay compliant without scheduling a second visit.

Testing & Certification

Annual testing by our certified tester keeps your assembly in compliance. We can test fire suppression systems as well. We use a calibrated differential pressure gauge and document everything the city requires.

Paperwork filing

We submit your test results directly to your corresponding city. You get proof of compliance — without the back-and-forth.

Commercial Properties

Businesses, property managers, and building owners with irrigation systems, fire suppression lines that need testing, or other cross-connection points are required to have tested, certified assemblies. We keep you in compliance — year after year.

Commercial customers like hotels, restaurants, apartment complexes, and more can call us for service.

Homeowners with Sprinkler Systems

If your home has an in-ground irrigation or fire sprinkler system, North Carolina requires a backflow prevention assembly.

We'll inspect it, test it, and make sure everything is up to code.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Do I actually need a backflow preventer?

  • If your property connects to city water and has an irrigation system, fire sprinkler line, pool, or any other non-drinking water system, the answer is almost certainly yes. North Carolina requires backflow protection on these connections to keep contaminants from reversing into the public water supply. Commercial properties are required to comply — and many homeowners are surprised to learn they are too.

How often does a backflow preventer need to be tested?

  • For most commercial assemblies and fire suppression lines, testing is required annually. Residential irrigation devices are typically required every three years, though it can vary by device type. We'll tell you exactly what schedule applies to your system when we come out. Regarding fire suppression lines, we can ONLY test those; we cannot work on them.

What happens if my device fails a test?

  • It means the assembly needs to be repaired before it can be certified. When possible, we carry common replacement parts and handle the repair the same day — then retest before we leave. You walk away with a passing result, not another appointment to schedule.

Who handles the paperwork with my corresponding city? (Commercial)

  • We do. Once your assembly passes, we submit the test results directly to your city's program. You get a copy for your records and don't have to chase down forms or deadlines.

I manage multiple properties. Can you test them all? (Commercial)

  • Yes — and we can coordinate them together so your compliance calendar stays simple. Call us and we'll put together a plan that covers all your locations without you tracking separate appointments and due dates.

We received a notice from the city requiring backflow testing. What do we do? (Commercial)

  • Call us. We know Hickory's Cross-Connection Control Program, as well as those of surrounding municipalities, and can get you scheduled fast. We'll handle the test, any needed repairs, and file results with the city — so you can respond to that notice with proof of compliance.

I have a home irrigation or fire sprinkler system. Does that count? (Residential)

  • Yes. Both in-ground irrigation and residential fire sprinkler systems require a backflow prevention assembly. If yours was installed without one — or you're not sure it's been tested — we can inspect it, tell you where things stand, and handle what's needed.

Can you install a backflow preventer if I don't have one yet?

  • Absolutely. We'll identify the right assembly for your system, install it to code, and test it before we leave. If a permit is required, we handle that too.

How will I know when my next test is due?

  • We keep track. After your service, we note your due date and follow up when it's time to schedule again — so you don't have to keep a compliance deadline on your personal radar.
